AGBU wasted no time to gear up for the monumental challenge at hand, given its deep experience on the frontlines of humanitarian relief, especially those of more recent memory—from the Syrian Armenian refugee crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, the explosion at the Port of Beirut, the 2020 Artsakh War, and now the exodus of the Armenians from Artsakh.
I discovered what is most important to me, all while surrounded and supported by Armenians who celebrate our cultural identity without hesitation or fear. Most importantly, I realized that I am undeniably my father's daughter.
The failure to act by global leaders emboldened Azerbaijani Dictator Ilham Aliyev to violate international agreements, numerous cease-fire agreements and two orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Aliyev has ignored all calls by you to refrain from using military force against Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

With an influx of over 100,000 displaced people entering in a matter of days, AGBU is ready to provide for people who have suffered through a nine-month blockade of vital supplies, as part of the ethnic cleansing campaign of Armenians by Azerbaijan.
Actions speak louder than words. All practical pressures must be applied now for the immediate release of Ruben Vardanyan and all detainees. The time is now for those nations that promote human rights and peace to intervene on behalf of thousands of Armenians whose lives are in imminent danger.

Today, while heads of state and international journalists were focused on the annual UN General Assembly in New York, Azerbaijan enacted the next phase of its master plan to force the Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh from their indigenous lands by launching a full-scale military operation against Armenian defense formations. It also announced that it is providing a safe route to "evacuate" the civilian population to keep them from harm's way.

One week after the conclusion of the August 16th emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to discuss the dire humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, AGBU’s leadership decided to send an Urgent Letter of Appeal to each of the 15 member representatives, including Albania, Brazil, China, Ecuador, Gabon, Ghana, France, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Russia, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, as well as to the Delegation of the European Union to the UN in New York.
A pillar of the AGBU global community and a leader in the worlds of industry and philanthropy, the pre-eminent Armenian patron Nazar Nazarian passed away on August 28, 2023, at age 98, having fully lived out his oft-stated personal credo —"to experience the joy and sense of reward that come through unreserved giving and dedicated service to one’s nation and the Armenian Church.”
