Leveraging its unique position in the epicenter of the high tech industry, with its concentrated community of IT professionals and transformational entrepreneurs, AGBU Silicon Valley paved the way for the first visit of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his 20-member delegation to Silicon Valley on September 23rd.

February 22, 2022 marks a milestone anniversary for AGBU and its esteemed leader Berge Setrakian, who assumed the presidency of the world’s largest Armenian non-profit 20 years ago. 

Reflecting on the past two decades, in addition to the 25 years he previously served as a member of our Central Board, we can unequivocally state that Mr. Setrakian has cemented his role in AGBU history as a powerhouse of inspired action—a pioneering, enterprising Armenian whose dedicated service to our organization can be likened to a calling rather than a choice.

As STEAM education—a method of knowledge exploration that guides student inquiry, dialogue and critical thinking using the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics—is changing the landscape of learning, AGBU recently joined the movement with an original initiative called Innovation Studios. The concept breaks the mold by providing middle and high school age Armenian youth with opportunities to not only acquire the hard and soft skills for careers of tomorrow, but also simultaneously connect with their Armenian identity as an integral part of the process.

Creative Armenia and the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) are thrilled to expand on their long-standing partnership and announce that ten cutting-edge creators have been selected as 2022 Creative Armenia-AGBU Fellows. Now entering its fourth year, the Fellowships program is an exclusive opportunity for the discovery, development, and promotion of rising talents across the arts. A year-long package of support includes funding, mentorship, industry connections, and personalized consulting toward career breakthrough.  

On the cusp of a new year, we can look back on 2021 as a time of bold experimentation and action. The fallout from compounded crises over the last two years continued to challenge the world in general and Armenians in particular, but AGBU remained committed to meet the needs of Armenians across the globe.
