AGBU Statement on Hate Acts Against California Armenian Schools
In light of the recent defacement of the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School and the Holy Martyrs Ferrahian High School with Turkish flags, the Central Board of AGBU strongly condemns these acts of provocation and attempted intimidation, which have been characterized by law enforcement as hate motivated. We stand behind the schools’ students and school administrators who have demonstrated their resilience in the face of such cowardly acts. Hate speech and hate crimes against any race, religion or ethnic group are categorically unacceptable, especially to those affected by genocide who have a heightened awareness of what these behaviors can lead to, when left unchecked.
