On October 27, 2007, a group of over 400 gathered at Sao Paulo, Brazil's Rosa Rosarum Buffet to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of AGBU San Paolo and honor the 2007 Man of the Year, Dr. Ruy de Moraes Nazarian.

The dinner dance began with an address by the AGBU Sao Paolo chairman, Krikor Manukian, who thanked the AGBU Central Board, local staff, donors and supporters of Sao Paolo's programs during his first year as chapter head. Manukian then presented Dr. Nazarian, a recognized community philanthropist, with a plaque to honor him as 2007 Man of the Year. The doctor was very grateful and discussed the importance of his family's role in the formation of the local Brazilian Armenian community and their pride in being part of the local AGBU chapter.

Nazarian becomes the 10th Man of the Year selected by AGBU Sao Paolo. The honoree has been a member of the local chapter since its founding in 1964 and his family was one of the first Armenian families to arrive Sao Paolo in the 1890s.

Special guests in attendance at the event included the Republic of Armenia's Consul Valery Mkrtumian and his wife Karine, Vice Consul Artur Harutunian and his wife Liana, and several religious dignitaries from the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Armenian Catholic Church and the Armenian Protestant Church, all of whom provided blessings before the meal.

The event entertainment was provided by the Uruguayan musical group, "Yerevan 50." Originally begun as part of the Uruguay's AGBU scout group over 30 years ago, Yerevan 50 has a strong following among Brazilian Armenian fans.
