    The playground unveiled as part of the new AGBU Kalpakian School kindergarten facility.

The opening of the renovated and refurbished kindergarten of AGBU Artaki Kalpakian School of Athens took place on January 30, 2008 with a special program in the school's Hrant and Louiza Fenerjian Hall. The cost of the renovation was underwritten by the AGBU Central Committee of Greece.

The opening ceremony was performed by the Most Rev. Archbishop Vosgan Kalpakian, Primate and Pontifical Legate to the Armenians in Greece, with the assistance of Very Rev. Shnorhk Sarkissian. The attendees visited the kindergarten facility and congratulated all those, parents and supporters alike, who contributed to the renovation project.

The formal ceremony was followed by a cultural program, which was organized by the AGBU Athens Ladies Auxiliary Committee. Zaven Krikorian, principal of the Kalpakian School, gave opening remarks while AGBU Central Committee of Greece Chairman Hagop Fesdjian spoke about the necessity of the renovation project and thanked all who made it possible.

Nadya Martirosyan, founder and director of the Mesrop Mashtots Center of Speech and Culture in Yerevan, thanked the AGBU Central Committee of Greece for inviting her to Greece and gave information about the work of the Mashtots Center. Then, to the delight of the audience, she recited, together with Siranush Andonian, a selection of poems by Silva Kaputikian, Hamo Sahian, Vahakn Davtian, William Saroyan, Paruyr Sevak, Khachik Dashtentz and Hamasdegh.
