AGBU Armenian Virtual College and National University of Rosario in Argentina Celebrate Five Years of Collaboration

AGBU Armenian Virtual College (AVC), a pioneering online education institution in Armenian studies through innovative hybrid and online learning, celebrates its ongoing collaboration with the National University of Rosario (UNR) in Argentina—the first higher education institution in Latin America to integrate AVC’s Hybrid Education program into its curriculum. Within this framework, in 2021 the Armenian Language Chair was launched under the Department of Modern Languages of the Language School, Faculty of Humanities and Arts at UNR. The course is accredited for undergraduate programs, is free of charge, and open to public.

The AGBU AVC Hybrid Education Program combines online and traditional education, offering the flexibility of a self-study format with the support of on-site instructors, along with cultural gatherings and social events organized by AVC’s online instructors. More than 80 schools and universities worldwide have already benefited from the Hybrid Program, which is available in eight languages of instruction.

Since the launch of the collaboration, UNR has accepted students from countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela, as well as from numerous Argentine cities and provinces including Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Cruz, and more, fostering connections and intercultural dialogue across the region.

“The integration of the AGBU AVC Western Armenian course, taught in Spanish, has greatly enriched the learning process. This resource is particularly valuable since most students are not of Armenian origin. The multimedia materials — combining audio, video, and images — enhance the classes, making them more dynamic and promoting a more interactive, motivating, and effective learning experience,” notes Professor Sabrina Demirdjian, Director of the Armenian Chair at UNR.

AGBU AVC Partnership and Operations Manager Arpine Tavakalyan notes that they not only plan to continue the collaboration based on the results but also promote further opportunities. “We are in constant connection with UNR faculty and know that AGBU AVC’s thematic social events and virtual tours have generated strong engagement among students. Therefore, for the coming years we plan to increase the frequency of these gatherings and broaden the academic offerings, further strengthening a learning environment,” she concludes.
