    The Scholarship Edge

    Investing in a brighter future

The AGBU Scholarship Program is one of the organization's longest running initiatives, enabling thousands of young Armenians enrolled at leading colleges and universities to pursue their academic goals. As tuition and living costs increase, these awards ease the financial burdens that might otherwise stand in the way of a worthy student’s success.

In 2020 and 2021 alone, over 1,100 students benefitted from this critical source of giving.

Scholarships are sustained by new and longstanding endowments as well as singular donations.

    • With financial support from AGBU, I was able to take advantage of studying at one of the world’s top universities. I apply the knowledge and skills I developed at University College London every day as I work in the Artsakh government.
Artak Beglaryan, State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh
    • The fact that Armenians at AGBU wanted to give me a scholarship meant they believe in my potential. They took a special interest in me; we kept in touch all through school and even beyond. It was like having another mentor that genuinely cared about my success.
Dr. Ian Bremmer, President and Founder, Eurasia Group
    • I’m not oversimplifying by saying that if it wasn’t for the AGBU Scholarship Program and the time AGBU invested in me, it would not have been possible for me to be where I am today. I feel a kind of responsibility to give back at some point in my career by providing guidance to people who are passionate about the work I do and by being a mentor.
      Anna Kalashyan, Consultant, World Bank
    • Receiving my scholarship gives me a great sense of pride. I have been involved with AGBU for many years and I’m so grateful knowing I belong to an organization that stands behind all Armenians and supports them in their endeavors.
Hrag Hamalian, CEO, Bright Star Schools

    Ways to Support AGBU Scholarships

AGBU Scholarships are made possible by the generosity of our donors. Contributions may be made to our scholarship general fund, or in the form of endowments or bequests.

Scholarship endowment funds have been a longstanding tradition since the 1920s. With a minimum donation of $25,000, you can establish a permanent fund in your name or in honor of a loved one. The principal balance is never spent, allowing a portion of the endowment’s yearly income to support the designated program in perpetuity.
