AGBU Marks the Passing of Zaven Khanjian, AMAA Executive Director/CEO

Zaven Khanjian, who passed away at age 80, on August 9, 2024, in Glendale, California, will long be remembered for his dedicated service to the American-Armenian community, most notably in his role of Executive Director and CEO of the century old Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) from 2014 to 2024.

He also authored three Armenian books and spearheaded and oversaw the opening of the AMAA Avedisian School in Yerevan, Armenia. He was a highly respected member of the Armenian community.

“For over a decade, Zaven Khanjian set a vivid example of dedicated leadership and service to his faith and church," remarked AGBU President Berge Setrakian, who had the opportunity to cooperate with Khanjian at critical moments in contemporary Armenian affairs. "He was known to all as an honorable man whose strong Christian values helped guide his decisions over the course of his distinguished career," Setrakian added.

On behalf of AGBU, Setrakian extended sincere condolences to Khanjian's family, colleagues, coworkers, and those in the Diaspora and Armenia whose lives were touched by his visionary leadership.
