On March 8, 2012, the AGBU Young Professionals of Toronto (YPTO) held its first networking event for young Armenian lawyers. The evening was co-sponsored by the Armenian Bar Association and held at the law firm of Papazian, Heisy, Myers in the heart of Toronto's financial district.
YPTO’s goal was to offer attendees the opportunity to meet other YP lawyers as well as some more experienced practitioners. Berge Papazian, partner of Papazian Heisey, Myers and secretary of AGBU Central Board, welcomed the group of 30 and stressed the importance of having passion for one’s work. He also encouraged the group to foster their YP network and expressed his delight that YPTO and ABA were working together to strengthen ties within the Armenian legal community in and around Toronto.
Over the next year, YPTO will be rolling out a series of similar events — specific to other industry groups to provide networking and mentoring opportunities to YPs and up-and-coming YPs in other industries.
