A lecture entitled “Armenia’s Constitution: An Approach to the Fundamental Law,” by attorney Diego Dolabjian and organized by the AGBU Buenos Aires Chapter Young Professionals, addressed several issues that concern members of the Armenian community.
In his presentation, Dolabjian –a Constitutional Law lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires and an advisor with the Justice Ministry’s Human Rights Department– discussed issues including precedents and the development of constitutions, their contents and functions, both on a global level and specifically focusing on the case of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh and the development of their constitutional system.
The public commended Dolabjian for the didactic manner in which he shed light on issues that may sometimes appear obscure to the non-expert.
In the Q & A session, Dolabjian also answered questions regarding dual citizenship according to Armenia’s law as well as rights and obligations of Armenian citizen and non-citizens living in the country. The lecturer also addressed a lively debate regarding voting rights for Diaspora Armenians.
The talk was part of a series organized by the Buenos Aires YP in which young professionals are invited to discuss on topics related to their fields of expertise, including architecture and history, in order to open up a new space for learning and debate.
