On July 5, 2010, YP Lebanon hosted a lecture and Q & A session with Riad Salame, Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon. The talk, entitled Invest in Lebanon, Invest in Youth, was the second discussion held under YP Lebanon's Entrepreneurship Series. Over 300 Lebanese young professionals attended the event, which was held at the AGBU Demirdjian Center in Beirut.
Governor Salame led a stimulating discussion about the Lebanese economy and the importance of investing in Lebanon. He stressed that while other countries have been struggling, the Lebanese economy is currently moving in a positive direction, and that investments in the country have been prospering. Governor Salame has been recognized internationally for his hard work at the Central Bank of Lebanon in preserving the national currency and maintaining financial stability during the global economic crisis.
Attendees were encouraged to participate and ask questions after the lecture. Topics ranged from the role of the Central Bank in encouraging youth to stay and invest in Lebanon with new credit facilities, to the obstacles that the Central Bank is trying to overcome. Following the Q & A session, guests had the opportunity to meet Governor Salame and network with fellow young professionals during the event's reception. AGBU's YP Lebanon is looking forward to continuing the Entrepreneurship Series and would like to thank their sponsor, Bank Audi, for its support and generosity.
