A program entitled "Musical Spring 2009" was presented by young Lebanese-Armenian musicians at the AGBU Demirdjian Center on March 22, 2009. Organized by AGBU-AYA Antranik Cultural Association, the event attracted a large number of artists and cultural enthusiasts.
Opening remarks were delivered on behalf of AGBU-AYA Antranik Cultural Association by Armen Eurneshlian, who read Matteos Zarifian's poem "Facing Spring" on the 85th anniversary of the poet's death and expressed the hope that the program would be an occasion to remember him with spring-inspired sounds. "Musical Spring" is the first youth-focused musical concert staged in years, and the musicians represent an emerging generation of Armenian talent.
The young musicians welcomed the arrival of spring, playing Armenian songs, including works by Babajanian ("Nocturne"), Gomidas ("Hov arek," "Vagharshabadi Bar" and "Groong"), Hekimian ("Hayots Darer"), Manassian ("Erzroumi Shoror"), Sarajian ("Kamantcha"), Sayat Nova ("Kani Vour Jan Im") and Sbentiarian ("Ay Vart"). They also played works by European composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Bizet, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schubert and Mozart.
At the end of the program, AGBU Lebanon District Committee Vice Chairman Garo Djeghelian presented the participants with souvenirs as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
