Young Professionals of Yerevan Host Student Environmental Debate
The AGBU Young Professionals of Yerevan (YP Yerevan) is keeping up the momentum from the recent YP Go Green campaign with a brand-new collaboration with the Partnership for Green Development (PGD). The two groups recently joined forces to educate students about one of the most pressing environmental issues in Armenia today: mining.
Through a weekend-long workshop, the YPs helped university and high school students sharpen their debating skills. After taking a series of master classes, 14 students were selected to participate in a final debate competition at the AGBU center in Yerevan. The event, “Mining: The Driving Force Behind Armenia’s Economy or a Disaster in the Making?” was judged by a panel of environmental experts, including a representative from Armenia’s Ministry of Nature Protection. The finalists went home with certificates from the YPs and PGD.
