From June 25 to August 6, 2010, 20 interns from eight countries around the world -- Canada, Bulgaria, France, Lebanon, Russia, Syria, the United Kingdom and the United States -- came together to participate in AGBU's Yerevan Summer Intern Program (YSIP). For the fourth consecutive year, YSIP has been the premiere venue connecting diasporan Armenian college students with their cultural heritage while providing them with hands-on work experience and a program of cultural, social, and professional activities. Participants develop closer ties with their homeland and a better understanding of their roots, interacting with their peers and getting actively involved in everyday life in Armenia.

Students spent their summer internships at a number of leading institutions and organizations, including Ameria Bank, American University of Armenia, Armenian Center for National and International Studies, Civilitas Foundation, Deem Communications, IDS Design Studio, Narek Sargsyan Architectural Company, Republic of Armenia Diaspora Ministry, Republic of Armenia Human Rights Defender's Office, Republic of Armenia National Assembly, Spanish Center, Ter-Tatjatian Law Firm, United Nations Organization and Varshavian Orphanage.

Besides gaining professional experience, the interns also participated in various cultural activities, attended Armenian language and folk dance classes, visited historical monuments, and got acquainted with the programs carried out by AGBU both in Armenia and Karabakh. During the YSIP participants' visit to the AGBU Armenian Virtual College (AVC), Dr. Yervant Zorian, AGBU Central Board member and Founding Chairman of the Armenian Virtual College, held a special presentation speaking about the results and achievements of the first year of AVC activities. As part of their program, interns were received by the Republic of Armenia Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian.

The Republic of Nagorno Karabakh's National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan met with the YSIP participants during their three-day trip to Karabakh. Together, both Ghulyan and the students discussed Armenia-diaspora relations and other issues that impact Armenian youth. On July 25, interns visited the AGBU "Antranik" Scout Camp in the Lori region of Armenia and spent an unforgettable day with AGBU scouts from all around the world. This year's AGBU Yerevan Summer Internship Program was successfully supervised by YSIP coordinator Anna Aghajanian and YSIP Activities Coordinator Sati Boyajyan.
