It’s back to school in Los Angeles, and at the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School’s (MDS) opening ceremony last week, students were greeted with two surprises: both a brand-new locker room and soccer field.
As part of his ambitious Eagle Scout project, 17-year old AGBU scout Arek Shirvanian, also a former MDS student, fundraised for and oversaw the construction of the boys’ locker room from start to finish. Meanwhile, the MDS Booster Club, Soccer Field Task Force, Parent Teacher Organization and Alumni Association generated a total of $120,000 to make the new field possible.
