For the first time in the history of AGBU's Alex & Marie Manoogian School in Southfield, Michigan, a graduating class has surpassed the million-dollar mark in college scholarship offers.

The scholarship amounts, which totaled $1.2 million dollars, were offered to approximately half of the school's 29 graduating seniors. Students received scholarship offers from in-state institutions, including the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Dearborn, Wayne State University, Oakland University, Central Michigan University, Lawrence Technological University and University of Detroit Mercy, as well as offers from multiple out-of-state universities.

"This is a principal's delight," said Manoogian High School Principal Dr. Hosep Torossian. "We thank our students, their parents, faculty and staff for an outstanding journey together."

The scholarships are a culmination of a memorable year for students, faculty and staff. In October, the school celebrated its 40th anniversary and the grand opening of its new, state-of-the-art high school building. "We are all bursting with pride in the knowledge that our astonishing seniors have amazed academia by earning $1.2 million dollars in scholarships! They have performed even better than we could possibly have expected. Congratulations," said Dr. Richard Marburger, Chairman of the school's Board of Trustees.

The Manoogian School is a K-12 charter school authorized by Central Michigan University, with an enrollment of nearly 400 students. The school's mission is to prepare students for college and beyond while instilling an understanding of Armenian language and culture.
