New York Summer Intern Program Begins

On Sunday, June 13, 31 university students of Armenian descent arrived in New York City, to acquaint themselves with the most exciting city in the world, while officially commencing the 23rd season of AGBU’s New York Summer Intern Program (NYSIP). Arriving from countries as diverse as Armenia, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Cyprus, France, Lebanon, Russia, Syria, the United States, and Uzbekistan, the interns found both common ground in their Armenian heritage and a shared desire to gain a professional edge towards their future career goals.

NYSIP participants will spend their summer days exploring the realities of their chosen careers at full-time, unpaid, internships secured by AGBU’s vast network of host institutions, which this year includes such workplaces as Sony, Merrill Lynch, Columbia University Medical Center, Near East Foundation, and Rothschild. Participants’ evenings will be filled with several thrilling cultural events, including a private lesson in Armenian dance by AGBU’s renowned Antranig Dance Ensemble, and comprehensive professional events, like the mentoring program sponsored by the AGBU Young Professionals of Greater New York, which will pair up each intern with an Armenian mentor. The students are staying at New York University's dormitories in downtown Manhattan.
