On May 21, 2011, the AGBU New England District hosted and honored longtime member and Providence Men's Chapter Chairman William Aznavourian for more than 45 years of service and dedication to AGBU and the Armenian community with a tributary dinner held at the AGBU Center in Watertown, Massachusetts.

AGBU New England District chairman Souren Maserejian welcomed guests with opening remarks and invited Reverend Father Dajad Davidian to bless the meal. After dinner, AGBU New England secretary Tina Panian invited talented musician Hasmik Konjoyan to present a medley of Armenian songs.

Panian then introduced the guest of honor and read a letter of recognition from the Knights of Vartan Grand Council's Grand Commander Dennis R. Papazian. The evening continued with remarks from community leaders and friends, including Jack Medzorian, Reverend Father Dajad Davidian, and George Murachian, each of whom said a few words about Aznavourian and the impact he has had on them personally, as well as on the Armenian communities in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

AGBU Director of Central Board Programs Anita Anserian also spoke to the guests, pointing out her 23-year friendship with Aznavourian and emphasizing the honoree's dedication to AGBU. "I was immediately struck by his zeal and passion for our organization. He truly understood our mission of goodwill and believed that everyone needed to do his or her part to ensure that AGBU continued to thrive. Time passed and all of us in the Central Office came to know him as a one-man dynamo operating out of Providence, committed to raising money for our organization every year, no matter what," said Anserian. "He taught me the importance of perseverance. We are indebted to him because he has enriched our lives with his enthusiasm."

Afterward, Anserian read a letter of recognition from AGBU President Berge Setrakian, and bestowed upon Aznavourian the status of AGBU Honor Member. In his letter, Setrakian praised Aznavourian and his selfless contributions to the organization. "Your dedication to AGBU knows no bounds. Over the years, you have singlehandedly taken on the workload of a full committee and raised tens of thousands of dollars for our organization through annual fundraising drives. This is a testament to your commitment and belief in AGBU's mission, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to you," said Setrakian. "Not many people have the focus and ambition to carry out such an important goal time and again, but because of your perseverance, funding for numerous programs has become a reality."
