On October 2, 2010, AGBU Montreal and AGBU's Alex Manoogian School organized the Third Annual Walkathon for the benefit of Montreal's École Alex-Manoogian, raising nearly $12,000. Despite a week of rain and bad weather conditions, the day of the Walkathon turned out to be beautiful and sunny. Nearly 150 walkers participated in the event, including children from the school, recent alumni, adults, and an ad hoc stroller brigade. As in previous years, AGBU Montreal's Venturers unit, which is comprised of scouts aged 14-18, provided security for walkers and were ready to help in case of emergency.

AGBU Montreal's Scouts' marching band, under the direction of Harout Tachejian, led the way, setting an engaging pace for the walkers. After putting away their instruments, the band members joined the walkers and completed the circuit with them.

Notable among those present were Alan DeSousa, borough mayor of St-Laurent and member of Montreal's executive committee; His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Diocese of Canada; Reverend Father Komitas Mirzakhanyan, parish priest of Holy Cross Church of Laval; Dr. Arshavir Gundjian, founder of AGBU École Alex-Manoogian; Harout Chitilian, city councilor for the Montreal district of Bordeaux-Cartierville and associate councillor to the Executive Committee; Armen Bechakjian, chairman of the AGBU Montreal Chapter; Robert Kechayan, principal of AGBU École Alex-Manoogian, and his wife, Zarouhi; Vartouhi Balian, former principal of École Alex-Manoogian; Arto Manoukian, chairman of Tekeyan Cultural Association; Alex Kunter, committee member of the Bolsahay (Istanbul Armenian) Cultural Association; and several members of the AGBU Montreal Chapter's executive committee.

For the second year, AGBU Montreal had the generous sponsorship of Sarkis Demirdjian, former board member of AGBU Central Board of Directors, and Avedis Demirdjian, former chairman of the AGBU Lebanon District Committee.

Back at the AGBU Center's Jirair and Elise Dervishian Hall, Walkathon participants were treated to refreshments provided by Maral Piloyan and a hard-working team of volunteers, including Rahel Ourfalian, executive-secretary of AGBU Montreal.
