London, England – Marking the city’s long-awaited passage into the global network of AGBU Young Professionals (YP), a capacity crowd of more than 90 Armenians attended the inaugural event of YP London on November 24, 2006 at Canning House in Belgrave Square.
Sponsored by AGBU London, the affair provided an ideal opportunity for locals to network and discuss future plans for the group. Spearheading the group’s establishment, Chapter Treasurer Armine Afrikian informed guests of YP London’s mission to provide a welcoming environment for all Armenian young professionals, in order to stay connected to the local community and participate in educational, cultural, humanitarian and social activities.
Afrikian then introduced Kevin Baliozian from AGBU France District who expressed his delight at the high turnout and shared AGBU’s vision of closely linking YP Groups from around the world — which now totals sixteen — within an international framework to achieve the common goals of AGBU.
In his closing words, Chapter Board Member Armen Nazarian drew attention to the inclusive nature of YP London and the important role of community participation to the future success of the group. For more information or to join the YP London mailing list, please email yp@agbu.org.uk.
