Glendale/Pasadena & Valley Chapters to Celebrate 20th Anniv of Armenia's Independence on Sept 18

Under the auspices of the AGBU Western District Committee, the AGBU Glendale/Pasadena and San Fernando Valley Chapters have organized a "Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence" on Sunday, September 18, 2011, to take place at 6:30 pm, at the AGBU Center in Pasadena.

Grigor Hovhannissian, Consul General of the Republic of Armenia, Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese, as well as other dignitaries and AGBU representatives, will be in attendance.

Hovig Eordekian, deputy director of AGBU’s representation in Armenia, will be the keynote speaker. The event will feature the performances of renowned violinist Haroutune Bedelian, accompanied on the piano by his talented wife Lorna Griffitt. Prominent pianist Vatche Mankerian will also contribute to the glory of the occasion with one of his original compositions. The AGBU youth will be represented by the AGBU school students as well as the local AGBU scouts.

The premiere screening of a specially prepared documentary by the Ministry of the Diaspora, highlighting the twenty years of Armenia's independence, will represent one of the high points of the evening.
