AGBU is now accepting applications for its 2011 Moscow and Yerevan Summer Intern Programs, through March 15, 2011. AGBU's summer programs are dedicated to developing the next generation of Armenian leaders through professional internships. The six-week programs bring together undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent from different countries and of various academic backgrounds to enjoy their summer holidays in a unique professional and cultural environment.

The Thrill of Moscow

The Moscow Summer Intern Program (MSIP) offers students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and work in this global hub of trade, commerce, and diplomacy that is home to hundreds of international corporations and leading organizations. Interns will join a network of Armenian students and young professionals living in the largest Armenian diasporan community in the world, while they learn about Russian life and culture through local outings, educational seminars, and cultural workshops. They will also travel to St. Petersburg -- one of the most scenic cities in the world, known for its famed Hermitage Museum, its many cathedrals, palaces, and summer gardens.

Participants of MSIP's inaugural year in 2010 interned at a wide range of institutions, including the Association of Russian Banks, CigarClan Magazine, Credit Reforms RUS, Dilidjan International High School, Henderson & Hayas Fashion, MediaCrat Publishing House, Monitor Consulting Group, Moscow School of Management, Uspenskiy Rally, and Troika Dialog Investment Bank. A summer in Russia is a truly multicultural experience that pairs invaluable international work experience with the study of a country that has a unique cultural and political significance in Armenian history.

Students are not required to know Russian to participate, as they will be placed in English-language work environments.

Discovering Modern Yerevan

Now in its fifth year, AGBU's Yerevan Summer Intern Program, sponsored by the Levon Nazarian Foundation, offers university students an opportunity to connect with their heritage while providing them with hands-on work experience in their particular fields of interest. A broad range of extracurricular activities offers students a unique opportunity to connect with Armenian friends and actively engage in Armenian daily life. Over the years, students have interned at a number of leading institutions and organizations in Yerevan, such as the Academy for Educational Development, American Bar Association/CEELI, Armenbrok Company, Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS), AUA Public Health Research Center, Deem Communications, The Future Is Yours NGO, Golden Apricot International Film Festival, HSBC Bank America, Karagheusian Children's Clinic, Medical University Hospital, the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Diaspora, the Republic of Armenia's Ombudsman's Office, Ter Tajatian Law Firm, and the United Nations Yerevan Office.

The intern program combines professional opportunities with a full schedule of cultural, educational, and social activities in order to provide students with a well-rounded summer-abroad experience. Weekly activities consist of Armenian language, history, and folk dance classes, while weekend excursions -- including an unforgettable trip to Karabakh -- offer students a unique opportunity to learn about Armenian history while visiting historical sites and monuments.

Don't miss your chance to spend an unforgettable summer abroad this year. Applications must be submitted to the AGBU Central Office by March 15, 2011. Program dates are June 25-August 5.
