Conference Devoted to AGBU Founder Boghos Nubar Takes Place in Kapan, Armenia

KAPAN (Armenpress) – On May 19, on the occasion of International Museum Day, the Regional Geographic Museum of Kapan, through the initiative of the Diaspora Ministry, held a conference devoted to the great benefactor Boghos Nubar Pasha, one of the founders of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, who was the descendant of a native of Kapan.

During the conference, museum director Grisha Sembatian touched on the genealogy of the Nubarians, stressing that the founder and first president of the AGBU was descended from natives of the village of Shikahogh near Kapan. Relatives of his continue to live in Kapan.

One of the conference participants was Kamo Sargsian, a representative of the Diaspora Ministry. He informed the attendees that a walkway dedicated to great Armenian benefactors will be created in Yerevan, on the stretch from Republic Square to the statue of Stepan Shahumian.

In the current period, the Diaspora Ministry is organizing different programs devoted to the activity of this national benefactor, which benefitted the Armenian people.
