Author Michael Bobelian Presents "Children of Armenia" to NYSIP Interns
On June 28, Manhattan-based author and lawyer Michael Bobelian presented his latest work, Children of Armenia: A Forgotten Genocide and the Century-Long Struggle for Justice, to the 2010 NYSIP interns. The book is the first of its kind to chronicle the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide and recount the Armenian struggle for justice for over a century of silence and denial. After an initial abundance of support for the “starving Armenians” by the United States in 1915, the Genocide disappeared from public consciousness. It took Armenians a half century to break this silence and remind the world of this act of inhumanity.
Bobelian, a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, interviewed more than 65 people to provide an accurate account of the Armenian struggle for justice in his book.
Next week, the interns will team up again with the AGBU Young Professionals for the first of a series of Round Table discussions.
