An exhibition of contemporary Armenian paintings entitled Armenia’s Colors opened on May 10 at the Artist’s Union of Armenia, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Marseille Chapter of the Armenian General Benevolent Union. The show will tour eight European countries. Its first exposition is made possible by the Armenian Ministry of Diaspora.
In her opening remarks, Minister Hranush Hakobyan touched upon the many years of AGBU activity. In particular, she stressed the importance of AGBU service between 1914-1923, which saved the lives of thousands of orphans, cared for the sick and aided those made vulnerable by the Armenian Genocide.
AGBU’s service and accomplishments, particularly those of the Marseille Chapter, will be presented throughout the tour, which begins June 17. The exhibition was organized through the initiative of the AGBU Marseille Chapter, Delta Cultura and Atr Est Ost associations, and features 35 works by seven Armenian painters.
