Annual Armenian Christmas Fundraiser Sponsored by YP Boston Supports Pan-YP Greenhouse Project in Armenia

This year, the AGBU Young Professionals of Boston (YP Boston) spread the holiday cheer from Massachusetts all the way around the globe to Barekamavan, Armenia. Their third Annual Armenian Christmas Party Fundraiser brought together over 60 guests from both the city and other parts of New England, who joined forces to support the pan-YP Greenhouse Project in the rural Armenian village.
Over the past three years, the YP Boston Christmas Party has grown in popularity among local AGBU YP members who are eager to give back to their homeland. In 2012, proceeds benefitted the AGBU Children’s Centers in Armenia. With this year’s event, which was held at the city’s Harvard Square restaurant, Nubar, the Boston YPs are generating even more positive change abroad: they are collaborating with over a dozen fellow YP Groups to fund, develop and implement the Greenhouse Project, which will help some 400 struggling villagers in the border community of Barekamavan raise and sell their own fresh crops.
Throughout the January 12 fundraiser, the YPs were full of praise for the environmentally friendly, sustainable development initiative. As 2012 YP Boston Chair Laura Michael remarked during the evening, “I hope that all of you can one day visit Barekamavan to see the greenhouses that you are playing such an important role in building.”
