July 1 marked the beginning of the 3rd annual Discover Armenia International Photography Exhibition and Contest, co-sponsored by the AGBU Young Professionals (YP), AGBU Armenian Virtual College, Uniunea Armenilor Din Romania, Armenian Youth Association, People of Ar and Birthright Armenia. The program aims to promote Armenian heritage though photographs and offers the opportunity to participate in an international contest.
The 150 winning photos will be printed and displayed at the International Armenian Street Festival in Bucharest from August 7 to August 9. After the festival, the Discover Armenia Photography Exhibition will be displayed for one month at the Armenian Cultural Centre in Bucharest. In the fall, the exhibition will travel to various countries to be displayed in cultural centers throughout the Armenian diaspora.
The contest includes six categories—people, places, traditions, heritage, free choice and diaspora—and is open to both amateur and professional photographers of any age and nationality. Contestants are asked to submit no more than three photos to discover@stradaarmeneasca.ro by July 31.
