Longtime Educator Will Begin Leading California School in July
The Board of Trustees of the AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian (VTM) High School in Pasadena, California, is pleased to announce the appointment of the school’s new principal, Dr. Armine Movsisyan.
Dr. Movsisyan has been an integral part of the VTM community for over eight years. She began her career there as a history and social science teacher, and with each school year took on more leadership responsibilities. Dr. Movsisyan has worked closely with the outgoing principal, Dr. Talin Kargodorian, fellow teachers, parents, staff and students to promote academic excellence, innovation and teamwork within the school. In her new role, she will collaborate with Mr. Hagop Hagopian, the current principal of the AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School, who will act as VTM’s Principal Advisor.
Mr. Sinan Sinanian, vice president of the AGBU Central Board of Directors and chair of the VTM Board of Trustees, welcomed Dr. Movsisyan to the school administration. “It is with immense pride that we promote Dr. Movsisyan to the position of principal,” he commented, speaking on behalf of the VTM board. “She not only has the rigorous educational qualifications that we require for such a position of responsibility, but also knows and understands our AGBU mission, school culture and values, and has proven her unwavering commitment and dedication to our students and their families. We look forward to a smooth and seamless transition.” Dr. Movsisyan’s tenure will officially begin on July 14, 2014.
Dr. Movsisyan earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, with a focus on Teacher Education, from the University of Southern California. Prior to her doctorate, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of California, Irvine.
