On June 5, 2015, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Lebanon Cultural Committee and AGBU Young Professionals of Lebanon (YP Lebanon), in collaboration with the Schizzo Design Art Gallery, held the opening night of HARUR, a design exhibition in honor of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

HARUR is the first partnership between AGBU Lebanon and Beirut Design Week, a platform to network, share knowledge and showcase talent to strengthen creative economies, develop entrepreneurship and promote Lebanon’s innovative culture. From June 1 to 7, more than 150 events in almost 100 locations around Beirut are celebrating the best of Lebanese and international design and bringing together more than 25,000 visitors.

AGBU Lebanon shared with over 200 visitors the artwork of internationally renowned artists, such as Guvder, Bernard Khoury, Léda Keuchguérian, Delphine Gebrane Markarian, Sara Melki & Jean Paul Karajian, Vahram Najjar-Aghazarian and Raffi Tokatlian.

HARUR—meaning one hundred in Armenian—symbolizes the redefined future, love of life and the rebirth of the Armenian nation. “Cento rises; calling for recovery, for the intelligence to integrate. Calling for this pride to succeed, for this eternal aspiration for a better future.Calling for this enormous love of life despite everything. Like this people whose memory and origins I carry deeply and intensely within me,” said Keuchguérian about her piece, Cento.

The featured artists have graciously donated the proceeds from the sale of their artwork to AGBU Lebanon to promote and support the chapter’s artistic projects. The exhibit has been extended to June 26.
