With summer just around the corner, AGBU Camp Nubar is gearing up to welcome young Armenians from all over the world for unforgettable days of friendship and fun in a very special year. As the camp turns fifty, it remains as freshly exciting and loaded with promises of adventure and discovery as the very first day it was founded.
Ranked among the top private camps in North America with state-of-the-art facilities, on July 6, 2013, Camp Nubar will open for six weeks to young and eager campers. In addition to traditional activities including hiking, horseback riding, swimming, boating and fishing, longstanding programs include dance as well as sports, arts and crafts, ceramics, photography, Armenian language classes and the most anticipated camp activity: Color War. All of this has made Camp Nubar a second home for youth from across North America and beyond.
Campers will celebrate all summer long with special activities, including bringing back traditions from the earliest years and enjoying an Open House unlike any other in the past.
For those who want to participate in the festivities, on Friday, July 26, 2013, the 50th Anniversary Celebration will take place at Guastavino's in New York City. The evening will include gourmet fare, a premium open bar and a unique program with tribute videos and more.
On July 28, 2013, Camp Nubar will hold its annual Open House and honor the five-decade anniversary. On this occasion, His Eminence Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern) will preside over the rededication of Lake Arax in a blessing ceremony, along with Rev. Fr. Vertanes and Yn. Anahid Kalayjian. The Open House will include family games, hikes, barbecue and live music.
For the convenience of guests attending the weekend celebrations, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Midtown East Courtyard by Marriott located on Third Avenue at 53rd Street in New York City. In addition, transportation will be provided to and from Camp Nubar for Open House with pick up and drop off points in New York City and New Jersey.
