For the first time, the AGBU-AYA Arine Dance Group’s junior division gave their own annual performance (independent of the Group’s senior division), and their debut event was received with standing ovations. Held over a three-day period at La Sagesse School in Beirut, the program featured Armenian as well as Lebanese national songs. Over 150 young dancers, ages 6-14, brought the music to life after almost a year of rehearsing with artistic director and choreographer Gayaneh Madzounian.
This week, the senior dancers are performing in “Im Hayastan” (“My Armenia”) Festival. The 10-day celebration showcases top talents from across Armenia and the diaspora. The Ministry of the Diaspora handpicked 45 members of the AGBU-AYA Arine Dance Group’s senior division to participate. They’ll be on stage for the opening ceremony in Yerevan, as well as in Vanadzor, Tsaghkadzor and Oshakan. In November, the seniors will hold their annual recital in Beirut.
