On May 7, the AGBU Asbeds of Los Angeles celebrated their 15th anniversary at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills with nearly one hundred members and guests, including former chairmen who were honored for their dedicated service.

The program began with welcoming remarks by Chairman Aram Aginian, who assessed the work carried out under the leadership of the previous chairmen. Krikor Karaguezian, a long-time AGBU member and former chairman of the AGBU Western District, gave an overview of the Asbeds’s endeavors in the past fifteen years, highlighting the tenure of each of the chairmen: Jack Abajian, Krikor Patatian, Kurken Berksanlar, Diran Jerejian, and Harout Yaghsezian.

“We are delighted that the AGBU Asbeds is marking its 15th anniversary in the Western U.S. this year, coinciding with the 110th anniversary of the AGBU. Tracing its roots to Lebanon, the Asbeds, comprised of individuals who grew up within the AGBU family, has contributed greatly to the organization’s mission and objectives. They have lent their support to the endeavors of various committees, and they themselves have initiated and realized a number of achievements. The committee, which came to life in Southern California with the aim of raising awareness, interest, and participation in national affairs, has strived to be a considerable presence within the community through interesting and noteworthy activities. Today, the realities and imperatives of our national life necessitate wholehearted work and commitment, for which it is important that the Asbeds, in their capacity, propagate expansive and fruitful work,” wrote AGBU President Berge Setrakian in a congratulatory letter. In her remarks, AGBU Western District Chair Mrs. Talin Yacoubian also extolled the meritorious service of the former chairmen, who were then awarded plaques of recognition.
