Our Voices Reached the Sky’: Sonic Memories of the Armenian Genocide:
Lecture by Prof. Gascia Ouzounian
This talk examines sonic memories of the Armenian Genocide, drawing on survivors’ earwitness testimonies (testimonies describing what they heard during the Genocide). While visual evidence predominates in studies of genocide, this talk shows how sonic memory can deepen our understanding of the historical aspects of genocide, as well as its social, psychological, and emotional dimensions.
