These nation-building strategies are essential to fueling the economic growth critical to long-term national viability. With our safety nets for the most vulnerable, our stepping stones for job seekers and ambitious entrepreneurs, and our bridges that connect key industries to world markets, AGBU’s commitment to helping Armenia is reflected in well-designed strategic programs and projects aimed at steady economic growth and sustainability.
Among AGBU’s many programs serving vulnerable Armenian citizens are three AGBU Senior Dining Centers, which provide daily nourishment to low-income pensioners, and five AGBU Hye Geen Centers to ensure the well-being of pregnant women, new mothers and newborns in various regions. We also joined forces with the Women’s Support Center with funding for their work with victims of domestic violence.
AGBU creates significant opportunities for upward mobility in Armenia. AGBU LEAP offers continuing adult education and trains workers for careers in tourism and public administration. To close Armenia’s gender gap, the AGBU EmpowerHer Initiative launched AGBU Women Entrepreneurs (AGBU WE) and AGBU Women Coders programs, also enlisting local and international experts to help propel them to success.
Access to quality affordable health care is fundamental to family stability and workplace productivity in Armenia. To that end, the AGBU-YSMU Levon and Claudia Nazarian Radiology Center raises the bar on diagnostic testing with advanced technology and a western trained staff while the AGBU Claudia Nazarian Polyclinic for Syrian Armenians meets the special needs of immigrants who fled Syria during the civil war. AGBU also invests in medical projects throughout the regions.
Tourism, Innovative Technologies, Culture and Agriculture are key industries in Armenia. AGBU helps expand and market these competencies with programs like AGBU Virtual Bridge, Katapult Creative Accelerator. In agriculture, our initiatives foster financial independence for farmers and landowners. We also invest in infrastructure projects like the rebuilding villages, improving irrigation, school structures and more.
Collaborating with government agencies, NGOs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), AGBU implements projects that expand capacity building among local communities seeking transformative change.
