    AGBU Global Relief Fund

Staying ahead of crisis in a turbulent world

In a world increasingly marked by human tragedies and evolving humanitarian needs, AGBU remains committed to providing support wherever it is most urgently needed. Through our Global Relief Fund, we respond to health crises, natural disasters, wars, and forced migrations, addressing critical needs and offering hope to affected Armenian communities worldwide.

In September 2023, the entire population of Artsakh was forced to flee their ancestral homeland, crossing into Armenia in search of safety. This year, our focus has been on supporting the displaced people of Artsakh, delivering immediate relief and enabling long-term recovery to a community devastated physically, emotionally, and economically, thanks to the unwavering support of our donors.

    Urgent Needs and Current Priorities

All donations go directly to AGBU relief efforts on Armenian soil. AGBU assistance has already reached hundreds of thousands of individuals from Artsakh through our food security outreach, and heater distribution program. We are actively working on mental health and primary medical care programs through our Claudia Nazarian Medical Center in Yerevan and Camp Nairi, and remain committed to job training and placement, as well as skills development through the AGBU LEAP and other long-term programs.

The AGBU Global Relief Fund ensures our preparedness to assist with crises as they arise.

In 2024, AGBU shifted from emergency aid to long-term assistance.

In this critical year of transition for forcibly displaced Armenians, AGBU has remained committed to implementing strategic shifts in our outreach and offerings.
Thanks to your help, we are balancing individual needs with a system of support that brings healing and hope to the entire community.

    A Trusted Resource

For over a century, governments and international relief organizations have come to AGBU as an active partner for delivery of aid. Our historic reliability and transparency ensures that we reach those who need it most. Time and again, AGBU is among the first responders on the scene thanks to its network of local and regional entities.

In addition to other well-established Armenian organizations, AGBU has partnered with Red Cross and Red Crescent, United Nations World Food Programme, USAID, European Union, Fondation de France, World Central Kitchen and other non-Armenian aid organizations.

    The Power of Preparedness

With the purchasing power to coordinate complex relief programs on a wide scale or customize solutions on a case basis, we can better manage fluid situations in which infrastructures and systems are no longer functioning. We have the flexibility to find alternative ways to reach those who lack access to essential services.

Having completed our initial efforts offering warm meals and food, our current efforts for the displaced people of Artsakh include:

    • Tens of thousands of heaters and articles of clothing distributed in villages
    • Thousands of hygiene packages and bedding items distributed to displaced families
    • Access to mental health and primary medical care for patients of all ages (including access to doctors and nurses from Artsakh)
    • Family emotional support retreats and camps
    • Music and art therapy sessions
    • Skill development courses, job training and placement

In addition, our work in Lebanon continues providing:

    • Clothing drive for the local community
    • Hot meal distribution for the elderly
    • Psychosocial support services
    • Tuition subsidies and scholarships

In Syria, we continue to provide for tuition subsidies and scholarships for the local community.
