Genocide, Freedom of Expression and Social Media

Pursuant to the institution of the World Genocide Commemoration Day on December 9, 2015, by the UN resolution 69/323, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), as survivor of genocide, acts upon its ethical responsibility to highlight about past and current genocides happening in the world and shed light about prevention and other ensuring initiatives globally.

Henceforth, AGBU, for the third year, organizes a Panel Discussion for the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime, to shed light on Genocide, Freedom of Expression and Social Media: The Balance of the Unbalanced?

The event that will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, will be in collaboration with the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs and in partnership with UN-OHCHR, UNESCO CISH, Facebook, Smex, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch Lepsiushaus Potsdam (Germany), L’Orient le Jour and the Foundation of Human and Humanitarian Rights.
