AGBU President Berge Setrakian addressed the Union’s membership during the special two-day delegate meetings and at the General Assembly, which was attended by Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan, His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, AGBU benefactors and members from all corners of the world.
Looking back at an illustrious century of AGBU’s growth in both Armenia and the diaspora, Mr. Setrakian assessed the organization’s many important achievements, and urged all present to remember that the Union must continuously reassess and adapt its programs to changing global realities to better respond to the call of its mission. He indicated that AGBU’s membership must develop its potential as a diaspora and channel its resources effectively in order to adjust to the demands of time. President Setrakian also added that the Union must lead through example and concentrate on high-quality programs that can attract the new generation of talented youth and inspire them to become engaged in the efforts of perpetuating our national identity.
The Assembly re-elected ten of AGBU’s Central Board members whose terms had expired: Mr. Aris Atamian, Joseph Basralian, Esq., Mr. Nazareth Festekjian, Mr. Vahe Gabrache, Ms. Arda Haratunian, Sarkis Jebejian, Esq., Dr. Levon Nazarian, Berge Setrakian, Esq., Mr. Sam Simonian and Dr. Yervant Zorian. It also welcomed a new member, Noubar Afeyan, PhD.
