The Glendale, California base United Armenian Fund (UAF) was established in November, 1989. Providing humanitarian assistance to Armenia, UAF has succeeded in airlifting $35 million of relief supplies, including medicine, medical equipment and machinery, on board 39 cargo planes over the past three years. The cargo planes, chartered at a cost of $100,000 per flight, carry 90,000 lbs. of aid each month. Armenia is the only former Soviet Republic to benefit from such a scheduled airlift operation. Participating members of the UAF are: AGBU, The Armenian Missionary Association, The Armenian Relief Society, The Diocese of the Armenian Church, The Prelacy of the Armenian Church and the Lincy Foundation.
