In September of 2020, news of the Second Artsakh War triggered a surge in generosity that could be felt, seen and heard around the world. Donors from afar quickly became lifelines to thousands of Armenians on the move as AGBU worked on the ground to deliver sustenance and peace of mind to uprooted families. Our important work continues each day, and together, our volunteers, donors and staff show the world the true meaning of unity. Berge Setrakian, President
Our work in Artsakh and for those who are still displaced in Armenia continues with relief distribution and develop ongoing assistance programs. Please consider a contribution to our Global Relief Fund.
The heavy toll of fallen and injured service members left too many children experiencing a life-changing trauma. A steady stream of recreational activities and new toys, books and clothes were distributed by caring volunteers across the region to thousands of children. In 2021, we launched Camp Nairi, a free summer retreat for children which includes therapeutic activities and sessions with licensed mental health experts. The Camp Nairi outreach will continue during the year and the summer camp will reopen in 2022.
During the 44-day war, AGBU sat down with individuals who fled from Artsakh as well as doctors who were at the frontlines, all of whom wanted to share their stories. Each harrowing testimony reveals the horrors of the surprise attack on their homes and towns and the fear that followed.
