In light of current developments in the Armenian reality, amplifying the voices of Artsakh and the Armenian people remains a core priority. To this end, the AGBU Artsakh Heritage Grants (formerly Artsakh Research Grants) support projects that preserve, document, and raise awareness about Artsakh’s rich history, culture, and current issues. These highly selective grants are intended for impactful educational and preservation initiatives aimed at informing a broad, global audience through accessible and innovative content.
OBJECTIVES
The goal of the AGBU Artsakh Heritage Grants is to foster accessible and substantiated knowledge of Artsakh by supporting initiatives that:
- Create high-impact, innovative content that addresses the region’s social, cultural, psychological, economic, technological, humanitarian, and environmental concerns, with an emphasis on producing content for mainstream and public platforms.
- Build comprehensive perspectives through interdisciplinary or cross-sector approaches.
- Increase access to primary resources and accurate historical narratives beyond academic channels.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing with long-term benefits.
Grant recipients will receive $1,000 - $10,000 USD for their project.
ELIGIBILITY
The AGBU Artsakh Heritage Grants are open to the following groups:
- Graduate-level students (Master’s or Doctoral),
- Academics, educators, and independent scholars,
- Freelance journalists and writers,
- Others committed to advancing public understanding of Artsakh through education and preservation.
While applicants are encouraged to propose original and creative initiatives, the following examples illustrate the types of projects that align with the AGBU Artsakh Heritage Grants’ mission:
- News articles and media coverage
- Film/Multimedia – documentaries, short videos, podcasts
- Educational Resources – curricula, storybooks, interactive maps
- Digital Advocacy – websites, social campaigns, storytelling platforms
- Oral Histories – capturing community stories, daily life narratives
- Exhibits – museum or gallery shows
- Visual/Performing Arts – exhibitions, concerts, theater productions
- Folk Arts/Traditions – recording folk songs, craft workshops
- Culinary Heritage – documenting recipes, food culture publications
- Archival/Preservation – digitizing manuscripts/archives, VR reconstructions
