The Assyrian Genocide
Under the guise of the terrible brutalities of World War I, over a million Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks were systematically massacred, dispossessed and deported in Ottoman Turkey. Historian David Gaunt considers the tactics used by Turkish authorities to frighten and turn against one another the many non-Muslim minorities in the Empire, and the ensuing policy of denial that continues to be institutionalized in Turkey to this day.
