Job Description:
The AGBU Arts Coordinator works directly with the Director of the department, and is responsible for the administration, implementation, and further improvement of the department’s various programs and events.
Since 2012, AGBU Arts has become a driving force for developing and showcasing Armenian artists and performers while treating audiences to experiences that reveal the transcendent human spirit in the Armenian context. Central to AGBU Arts' mission is introducing Armenian culture and traditions to audiences worldwide, through competitions, immersive programs in Armenia and impressive events on global stages including Armenians in Film at Lincoln Center and AGBU Performing Artists in Concert at Carnegie Hall. AGBU Arts Department also offers financial support and mentorship opportunities for rising artists, providing a number of arts scholarships, mini grants and fellowships to talented young Armenians.
Program/Department Responsibilities:
- Manage payments of special projects and grants
- Coordinate international and regional travel arrangements
- Coordinate artist and venue communications
- Maintain worldwide database of Armenian artists
- Coordinate arts-based outreach and artist grant proposals
- Responsible for internal and external communications pertaining to arts activities
- Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned
Relationship Management:
- Maintains relationships with performing arts venues and organizations
- Seeks, identifies and initiates outreach prospective companies and artists for collaborations
- Serves as liaison between artists and venues ensuring fluid and successful performances
- Conducts research on Armenian artists (past and present) such as musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, etc., to feature and/or showcase
Marketing:
- Works with the Communication Department for designing and implementing all promotional material
- Prepares and reviews written material for articles, press releases
- Coordinates the development and distribution of promotional print and electronic materials such as e-newsletters, brochures, and press releases
- Assists the Communications Department in promoting AGBU Arts' programs through the press and various social media outlets
- Updates and refreshes content on AGBU Arts' social media accounts and online calendars
General Office Administration:
- Assist with data processing
- Other administrative duties as needed
Requirements- Skills/Qualifications:
- At least two years of related professional experience
- Experience working in event management, including but not limited to film screenings, music performances (acoustic and amplified), multi-disciplinary events, dance
- Highly organized and detail oriented with excellent time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a background in grant writing is a plus
- Ability to take initiative and propose new ideas
- Works well independently as well as work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Fluent with Microsoft Office suite and database management
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- A strong interest in and knowledge of arts and artists (local and international)
- Bachelor's degree in music and/or arts administration preferred
- Knowledge of Armenian and French language a plus, but not a requirement
- United States citizenship or residency required
